Justin Bieber 'Driving Like a Maniac' in Studio City
See the TMZ report, City Councilman Dennis Zine said he should be arrested.By Mike Szymanski and City News Service July 7, 2012
Justin Bieber was issued a speeding ticket today, after allegedly driving recklessly on the Hollywood (101) Freeway, authorities said.
Bieber, 18, was pulled over about 10:45 a.m. after allegedly speeding on the freeway between Coldwater Canyon and Vineland avenues, according to the California Highway Patrol.
(This wasn't far from where he had a minor fender-bump last year where he owns a condo in Studio City.)
"Two vehicles were seen traveling in a reckless manner southbound on US 101 near Coldwater Canyon," the CHP said in a statement. "It appeared the second of the two vehicles was chasing the vehicle in the front. A traffic stop was made on the lead vehicle, and the driver was identified as 18-year-old Justin Bieber,'' the CHP reported. "The second vehicle fled the area and (a) follow-up investigation is underway to determine
the identity of the driver as well as the charges to be filed.''
Bieber was issued a speeding ticket, and was released pending further investigation, the CHP reported. According to TMZ.com , Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine "was on the 101 Freeway when he saw Justin in his chrome Fisker (sports car) roaring down the freeway at speeds that Zine says exceeded 100 mph.''
Zine called 911 to report what he saw, according to TMZ. "Zine tells us Bieber was trying to shake a team of paparazzi—not TMZ—that was on his tail,'' TMZ reported. TMZ reported that the CHP was investigating the paparazzi "for creating a hazardous situation.''
During his interview with TMZ, Zine blasted the teen, saying he should be thrown in cuffed and thrown in the slammer.
"Bieber was driving like a maniac. He was weaving in and out of traffic. There was hardly any space between cars as he weaved from lane to lane."
Zine added, "If I was on patrol, I would have arrested him for reckless driving. I was going 60 and he drove by me like he was in a rocket ship. He was a maniac."
After hearing of the harsh words, Justin's manager, Scooter Braun, brushed off the claims, telling the site Zine "is just a councilman looking for a headline."
And obviously not stopping for anything, Bieber was forced to dial 911 after his traffic stop, explaining the paps were at it again. Local law enforcement says they are investigating the whole ordeal and are looking into whether the shutterbugs were creating an unsafe environment.
