The Knicks lost, 4-1, to Miami in the first round of the playoffs, snapping an NBA-record, 13-game postseason losing streak by winning Game 4, their first playoff victory since 2001 . . . Curtis charged with sexual misconduct

Former major league outfielder Chad Curtis, 34, was charged with sexual misconduct after two teenage girls accused him of touching them at Lakewood High School in Michigan, where he volunteered. Curtis, who won two World Series rings with the Yankees, was arraigned Thursday at Barry County District Court on five counts of criminal sexual conduct and was freed after posting $25,000 in cash on a $250,000 bond, County Undersheriff Robert Bakersaid . . . Cardinals first baseman Lance Berkman is expected to miss 8-10 weeks after surgery on his right knee revealed a partial meniscus tear and a small tear in the femoral condylar cartilage . . . All-Star catcher Miguel Montero agreed to a five-year, $60 million extension with the Diamondbacks, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Montero, 28, is batting .255 with two home runs and 21 RBIs in 38 games . . . The Orioles and center fielder Adam Jones’s agent are discussing a long-term extension. Jones’s contract expires after this season, but he will be under club control in 2013 before becoming a free agent . . . Reliever Juan Carlos Oviedo said he has his US visa, and will be able to rejoin the Marlins in August after serving a league suspension, which will be for eight weeks, according to a person familiar with the case. Oviedo was caught using the fake name Leo Nunez and spent the offseason in the Dominican Republic clearing up his immigration status . . . The Blue Jays put outfielder Ben Francisco on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain and sent lefthander Evan Crawford to Triple-A Las Vegas . . . State prosecutors told a judge that a defense request to dismiss child sexual abuse charges against former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky is premature because there has been no sworn testimony in the case . . . Former Penn State president Graham Spanier filed a civil lawsuit to force the school to release e-mails related to its investigation of Sandusky, saying he wants the e-mails so he can better recall events, citing e-mails sent between 1998 and 2004.
