Missy Franklin heard from Justin Bieber after winning her first gold medal. Michael Phelps got an bigger tweet after earning a record 19th Olympic medal — from President Barack Obama.
Obama tweeted:

Congrats to Michael Phelps for breaking the all-time Olympic medal record. You've made your country proud. -bo

Phelps said Wednesday morning that he was enjoying the Twitter attention. "I woke up and started scrolling through thousands of mentions (on Twitter). It was just like madness. I wanted to thank all
my friends who sent tweets to me. … There were a bunch of different athletes and figures from all over the world that were sending things. It was pretty cool."

His rival and friend Ryan Lochte also took notice of Obama's tweet. "I saw that too, and I thought that was pretty tight," Lochte said Wednesday.

Phelps became the most decorated Olympian in history on Tuesday night, winning two medals (gold in 4x200-meter freestyle relay and silver in 200 butterfly).

Franklin was still excited about her tweet from Bieber, who congratulated her after she won the 100 backstroke.

"I could not believe it when I saw it," she said Wednesday. "I was running around like a chicken with her head cut off."
